Cavatelli Maker Action Shot

With the purchase of a new camera and a new wireless router I am able to show a video.  This is what it looks like to make cavatelli.

If you can't view it in this post you can go HERE and view it on YouTube.

Easter 2012

I had a great time spending Easter with my oldest brother Richard, and Mary Ann.  I scooped out redskin potatoes, stuffed them with goat cheese and topped with bacon.  Richard brought steak, rolls, and mom's chocolate pie.  I also made some cavatelli and grilled asparagus.

Biscuits for my sweeties...

Yesterday I read a blog post about pumpkin dog biscuits.  The writer blogs that pumpkin is good for a dog with an upset stomach, but getting them to eat a spoon of pumpkin can be challenging. I really think my dogs would eat anything you put on a spoon, but dog biscuits are so cute.  They are in the oven now and I can't wait to let them have one.

Practicing Cavatelli

A few weeks ago I caught a glimpse of a cavatelli maker and knew I had to have one.  But before I made it for anyone other than myself I decided to do a practice run.  I learned two things.  Don't make your dough too soft and use lots of flour.

All it needed was little olive oil and cheese.

Peas Day 1

This morning I couldn't wait another day to start on the garden.  Is there anything better than peas right out of the garden?  One of my favorite childhood food memories is my grandmothers bowl of peas and new potatoes.  The potatoes were so young and the peas so plump that the potatoes were barely larger than the peas.  Last fall I planted sugar snap peas and had some success so I hope that the spring peas will a good crop.  Today I got everything together and got them started inside.
