The Ultimate Trinity

This weekend I decided to clean my freezer of any leftover fruit and berries and make jelly. This is in anticipation of strawberry season just around the corner. After gathering the blackberries, raspberries, cherries, and blueberries I made a batch of Black-n-blue raspcherry jelly.  It turned out even better than I thought.

The only thing that was missing was a vessel to put the jelly on. This morning I made two loaves of whole wheat bread that my mother used to make frequently.  She got the recipe from my dad's mother, Nana.

What's better than warm whole wheat bread with butter and home made jelly?  Not much.

Backyard Additions

This past Sunday was a great day to work in the backyard.  Mary Ann and I have been discussing adding two more container gardens for quite some time.  About a month ago I got wood to build them, but hadn't made much progress beyond that.  So Sunday morning I got up early and decided that it was the day.  I coaxed Maple into running upstairs and waking up Mary Ann, although it doesn't take much coaxing.  Maple loooooooves her so much.  After a little coffee Mary Ann was ready to help.  After the containers were put in place we made a trip for dirt and planted some broccoli and brussel sprouts.  These are Mary Ann's favorites so I thought since she helped these should be the first planted.  So far Maple has only pulled one of the plants out and chewed on it.  In fact, as I am writing this now all I can think about is the fact that she is outside unsupervised and I haven't checked on her lately. Wyatt gave up on supervising her a long time ago. I better run...

With the purchase of a new camera and a new wireless router I am able to show a video.  This is what it looks like to make cavatelli.

If you can't view it in this post you can go HERE and view it on YouTube.

Easter 2012

I had a great time spending Easter with my oldest brother Richard, and Mary Ann.  I scooped out redskin potatoes, stuffed them with goat cheese and topped with bacon.  Richard brought steak, rolls, and mom's chocolate pie.  I also made some cavatelli and grilled asparagus.
